Levitra® (vardenafil) is another option for oral therapy to treat erectile dysfunction.  It has been studied intensely in diabetic men and men with high cholesterol.

Levitra® comes in doses of 2.5, 5, 10 and 20mg.  You should not take more than your doctor prescribes and should not take more than one pill daily.  It should be taken about 1 hour prior to having intercourse and can be taken without regard to meals.  Levitra® may remain effective for up to 4 hours after taking the medication.  Remember, you will need sexual excitement to achieve an erection.
Some possible side effects include temporary indigestion, nasal congestion or headache.
All currently available oral therapy for Erectile Dysfunction belongs to a class of medications called PDE-5 inhibitors and as such, anyone taking nitrates (i.e. nitroglycerin) should not take Viagra®, Levitra®, or Cialis®.

If you have questions about Levitra® or are having trouble with obtaining or maintaining erections, please do not hesitate to contact the Dallas Center for Pelvic Medicine for an appointment to address these issues in a relaxed and dignified atmosphere.
